Bludgeoned
PC Nate Roberts started his day at Deansgate School by breaking up a row between two parents, Jermaine Brooker and Matt Gilbert. Moments afterwards Nate and Miss James were splitting up another fight, between the feuding fathers’ sons, in supply teacher Laura Tambling’s class. Later, PCs Mel Ryder and Millie Brown answered a shout and found Jermaine out cold on his kitchen floor – he’d been bludgeoned around the back of the head. Girlfriend
DCs Jo Masters and Will Fletcher visited Jermaine’s alleged rape victim Stacy Hayes; her protective brother Liam was there too. Stacy insisted she had no ill feeling against Jermaine because it was his testimony that put away Stacy’s actual rapist. Back at school Mickey flirted with Laura whilst she identified Matt Gilbert, the other parent rowing with Jermaine this morning – he has previous for assault. Jo and Will went to Matt’s work to bring him in, but he wasn’t there. Find out who was there instead in Part 2’s video….
Evidence
Matt was the prime suspect for a short while. He only found out last night from his girlfriend Stacy about her rape – that’s why he was rowing this morning with Jermaine. However his alibi for the time of Jermaine’s attack checked out. Meanwhile the suspicion fell on the victim’s wife, Liz because she suspected Jermaine was having an affair. Will thought she was guilty; see why in Part 3’s video…
Critical
Liz left Jermaine this morning when she saw he hadn’t gone for a run as he planned; instead he was chatting in his home to the woman Liz was sure he was having an affair with. With a broken heart, Liz packed her bags and left. At the nick Kezia discovered the white van spotted, around the time of the vandalism the Brookers suffered, belonged to the rape victim Stacy’s brother, Liam. He was on a stag do the night Stacy was attacked. Will picked up on a small detail in the case file: Jermaine was semi-conscious at the time she was being raped, not unconscious. Will concluded that Liam resented Jermaine for not saving his sister. Banged to rights, Liam admitted the assault on Jermaine. Find out if he recovered from his fractured skull in Part 4’s video.
