After receiving an anonymous and frantic emergency call, Sgt Stone and PC Ben Gayle investigate a break-in at a newsagent’s. In the dark, Ben’s size 9s squelch as he finds himself standing in a pool of blood: nearby is William O’Halloran, the murder victim.

With nothing of any value missing, CID and CSE Eddie Olosunje conclude this is not an ordinary robbery. Banksy is surprised to learn the emergency call made in the small hours was from a mobile phone registered to Joseph Sissoulu whose son Danny was killed a couple of months ago.

Banksy was the Sissoulu family’s FLO during the investigation into their son Danny’s killing. Danny’s best friend Mo Campbell has been estranged from the family since the murder but Danny's father, Joseph bought him a phone in case of an emergency. Now Mo’s the prime suspect for this latest murder.

Mo lives with a couple of friends now, Devon and Kadisha. Banksy and DC Jo Masters both know Mo’s got a good heart, but along with Mo’s finger prints at the scene there’s also evidence of a collaborator.
