PCs Nate Roberts and Leon Taylor race to Lily Wright’s flat where she’s screaming that her 18-month-old daughter Chelsea is unconscious and has a severe, bloody head wound. Lily’s partner Gavin, who is Chelsea’s dad, was arrested only two weeks ago for assaulting his daughter - Lily insists Chelsea fell from her highchair.

Insp Smith is suspicious of Gavin’s involvement and gives Leon the go-ahead to bring him in for questioning. CSE Eddie Olosunje cordons off Lily’s flat as it’s now a crime scene – Eddie needs to find evidence of Gavin’s presence there as he’s under a court order not to come within a quarter of a mile of Chelsea or her mum.

Leon and Nate gladly arrest Gavin for assaulting his daughter. They both feel very sure he’s guilty.

Eddie quickly surmises the crime scene has been prepared to look like the baby fell out of her highchair, sustaining her head injury from hitting it on the corner of the coffee table on the way down. Lily has been lying.
