PC Leon Taylor searched Darren Bailey’s home for drugs that were never found. He left the scene, but unlike the other officers he didn’t return to the nick. Instead Leon stopped at the hospital to see Connor who was visiting his sister Ruby. He handed over £300 to help him take Ruby back to Ireland to recover at their parents’ home.
DS Max Carter concluded Bailey could have ditched the missing £300 or an officer could have taken it during the search of his home.
Sgt Stone heard that Leon didn’t come straight back to the station – now suspicious he checked his officer’s whereabouts and was shocked to see him on CCTV handing over cash to Connor.
Held accountable for his actions, Leon was furious that Stone suspected him of stealing. Leon did however explain that it was his own money he used to help someone in need.
Leon’s late girlfriend had left him some cash – he knew she would have approved of his altruistic actions.
