Abducted – Victim: Claire Kemp
Claire Kemp is five-years old. Both her parents are recovering heroin addicts. When a small bag of the drug landed on her doormat, Larry, her dad, threw her mum Heather out of the house. Shortly afterwards, Larry nodded off in the playground – whilst he was asleep Claire was abducted.
Her mum was always the prime suspect. But then it came to light that Heather’s friend Dawn wasn’t a friend after all. Instead they had an ongoing feud from their prison days: Heather owed Dawn for a large amount heroin. Today Dawn had kidnapped Heather’s daughter and planned to exchange her for the cash owed for the drugs.
Although Dawn was arrested for her part in the abduction, she never grassed on her boyfriend Jim who was in on the kidnap too and she never let the police know where Claire was.
PCs Millie Brown and Sally Armstrong found the location where little Claire was held. She was recovered no worse for the kidnap, and reunited with her parents.
