The investigation into the serious assault on Clara Novak continues. Its widely accepted Clara was mistaken for Dr Julia Bickham. Meanwhile Julia’s partner Harry Gilmartin has been attacked too. Discovering he’s been lying all along, Harry becomes a suspect.
This case is vitally important to DI Manson because the last time his path crossed with Julia’s he ordered Michael Simms to be shot; at the time he believed Simms was armed and it was saving Julia’s life. Manson was wrong. Now he’s refusing to rest on his laurels and is refusing his CID team the lazy luxury too.
Stephen Fairfax also lies to the police and becomes another suspect for them to consider.
Can DI Manson pull himself together and get a result? Will he ever notice he’s got a loyal colleague and friend in DC Grace Dasari?

Jared Miles is the prime suspect for the road-rage assault on Clara Novak. DI Neil Manson believes its a case of mistaken identity and psychiatrist Julia Bickham was the target.
Jared’s probation officer claims his client is not violent, but was soon proved wrong and sporting a black-eye as evidence.
Meanwhile throughout the investigation Grace witnesses Manson behaving off kilter: with Julia he’s distracted, with her partner he’s plain rude and with the prime suspect, he lets him go. When she walks into the DI’s office and sees him watching archived news coverage of the Michael Simms court hearing a couple of years ago, Grace realises what’s going on: last time Julia and Manson met, he ordered her patient to be shot dead. It was a grave mistake as Simms was not armed as previously assumed.
Julia is left believing Manson is stalking an innocent man with mental health issues again and it could end in yet another death - but who’s right...?
