Victim Support – helping people cope with crime
Supportline: 0845 30 30 900
What you don’t see on The Bill after the police have left a crime scene is the charity Victim Support on the phone to the victim shortly afterwards, offering help and support.
Victim Support is the independent national charity for people affected by crime, and is there for victims, as well as witnesses, right across England and Wales. Staff and volunteers give free and confidential information, emotional support and practical help, and every year they contact over 1.5 million people.
There are more volunteers at Victim Support than staff. If you are interested in lending your support to such a vital charity, find out more on their website http://www.victimsupport.org.uk/
You can also find useful information on their website about, for example, specific crimes, or what happens in court.
If you need help to cope with a crime, call Victim Support’s national supportline on 0845 30 30 900. Or if you want to know more about the charity, visit their website.
